Job Summary:

Responsible for delivering of the Districts Highway Development Program this includes the review and advisement on project predesign and design project scopingdocuments project plans and specification and project cost estimates. Understand budgets and assist in determining cost estimates and monitoring projects in the 5-year plankeeping on schedule. Provide input to districts regarding project needs and new projects to be added to annual 5-year plan update provides project resolutions collaborativelywith the right of way project coordinator; coordinates project construction and bid schedules with construction office. Provide assistance to the field personnel during theconstruction phase of the project as proactive accurate and timely in all duties assignments and customer oriented.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Review highway construction project plans for design clarity accuracy and completeness review highway construction project specifications and special provisions for accuracy and completeness; and prepare/summarize detailed feedback and comments from key District
representatives and stakeholders.

Meet with stakeholders relative to the projects as the District representative through pre-design and design process. Attend a variety of meetings
to Include but not limited to: Stakeholder/public agency meetings (and prepare notes); highway construction project partnering meetings (may
act as meeting facilitator as needed); highway construction project scoping and field meetings; highway construction.

Monitor all highway construction projects under development within the district and provide support and assistance to keep delivery of the construction program on schedule. Implement decision of management. Preparation of documentation and field reports related to the project development; incorporate comments from construction and maintenance; and provide updates for the district. Review documents prepared to ensure compliance with applicable laws rules and policies.

  • Civil Engineering principles and practices.
  • Plan and specification review constructionprocess and requirements.
  • Procedures and techniques for the use ofthe departments automated systems.
  • Job safety requirements.

  • Reading and interpreting engineering data.
  • Reading and interpretation of plans andspecifications.
  • Utilizing a variety of computer systems andsoftware.

ABILITY TO:

  • Understand analyze and evaluate a widevariety of data.
  • Develop appropriate standards.
  • Monitor district construction program toensure all projects are on schedule.
  • Refer all issues to the appropriate engineerfor engineering determination.
  • Interact with other employees andcustomers.
  • Participate in a team environment.
  • Provide input to the Departments designprocess.
Selective Preference(s):

Bachelor degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and 2 years experience equal to a Transportation Engineer Assoc.; or

3 years experience equal to a Transportation Engineering Tech level 3 or above: or

3 years experience equivalent to a HighwayOperations Supervisor or completion of the Arizona Department of Transportation Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) Program; or

Registration as a professional Civil Engineer with the State of Arizona.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Valid Arizona Drivers position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
