The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Records Taxes and Treasury Specialist (Tax Deeds Section).

General Description

The Records Taxes & Treasury Specialist in the Tax Deed Section performs specialized clerical work involving a variety of office and clerical duties and other assignments associated with bringing properties to auction for delinquent taxes. Duties are carried out within a framework of established statutes ordinances regulations and divisional policies and procedures. Considerable public contact is involved. Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires six (6) months of data entry customer service and office support experience.

SCOPE OF WORK

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Performs office functions which include but are not limited to:
Creates and prepares notices for interested parties County Sheriffs and surplus.
Hand-delivers auction notices to the Sheriff for service.
Prepares notices and tax deeds for official recording.
Prints maps and related materials for auctions.
Opens and processes incoming mail.
Sends certified and international registered mail.
Processes payments received for additional funds to bring the property to auction and reconciles final auction payments.
Pay outstanding Countys taxes (Real Estate Tangible Personal Property (TPP) Homestead Liens); posts and reconciles bid payments received.
Scans documents into working files and reviews scanned documents for quality control.
Redacts confidential information from documents pursuant to Florida Statutes.
Processes assigned tax deed files from three months prior to tax deed sale through completion; prepares hard file for post-auction surplus.
Prepares and distributes auction reports.
Provides customer service in person by phone or e-mail in connection with redemption payments Lands Available for Taxes and tax deed auctions.
Performs other duties associated with tax deed auctions and related follow-up activities as required.

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
