FDD Action is seeking to hire an Advocacy Associate to work at the nexus of government relations and communications. The individual will be a critical part of FDD Actions advocacy team which is responsible for developing and executing dynamic outreach and communications campaigns to shape policy outcomes. The Advocacy Associate will produce a wide range of communications materials and help oversee events programming associated with our government relations and policy work.

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable and passionate about national security issues an excellent writer experienced in creating a variety of communications products and highly organized. At least one year of post-college work experience is desired. Must be a team player who enjoys collaboration.

FDD Action is a non-partisan 501(c)(4) organization that combines policy analysis and direct advocacy to support policies that strengthen U.S. national security and counter threats confronting the United States and its allies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Draft and execute effective communications materials for congressional staffers;
• Manage website content and updates;
• Create social media content and digital campaigns;
• Develop communications materials to support FDD Action briefings events and educational programming;
• Assist with event planning logistics and execution of advocacy-related programs;
• Periodically draft press releases;
• Edit and refine development-related products;
• Support direct advocacy efforts with congressional staff and policymakers;
• Additional responsibilities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree in communications marketing digital media international relations political science public policy journalism or related field;
• Professional experience creating policy-oriented content (digital and print);
• Experience managing website content;
• Academic and/or professional experience in national security or foreign policy with a demonstrated commitment to FDD Actions mission;
• Strong project management skills and ability to balance multiple priorities;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both internal and external audiences;
• Familiarity with CMS social media management and design tools (e.g. WordPress Canva Adobe) preferred.

This role has a projected salary band of $57500 $65000 per year based on the candidates experience and qualifications. Additional benefits are available including healthcare coverage based on eligibility.
