JOB DESCRIPTION:
Company: Hemenway Trust Company LLC (Investments / Wealth Management arm of Hemenway & Barnes LLP)
Position: Director of Compliance
Location: 23 Keewaydin Drive Suite 400 Salem NH 03079 / Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Duration: Full-Time Permanent
Salary: $180000 - $200000/Annual

About the Company
Position Overview:
Key Responsibilities:

Lead all compliance programs including BSA AML OFAC Patriot Act and Customer Identification.
-
Develop update and maintain compliance policies procedures and risk assessments.
-
Monitor financial transactions investigate suspicious activities and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) when required.
-
Provide legal and compliance guidance to senior leadership and internal committees.
-
Mentor and oversee trust administrators ensuring accounts meet fiduciary and regulatory standards.
-
Oversee annual account and investment reviews.
-
Prepare compliance reports for senior management and regulators.
-
Design implement and deliver compliance training programs for staff.
-
Act as liaison to internal governance committees including preparing meeting agendas and minutes.
-
Serve as signing authority for discretionary payments and approvals.
Qualifications:
-
10 years of experience in trust administration and financial regulatory compliance including leadership/managerial roles.

Deep knowledge of BSA AML OFAC Patriot Act and related financial regulations.

JD (law degree) or CTFA (Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor) credential required.

Proven ability to mentor manage and lead teams.
-
Strong analytical communication and problem-solving skills.

Must be able to commute to Boston office as needed (estimated 1 2x per quarter).
