OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR
At the heart of the academic journey the Office of the Registrar helps shape each students experience at UNB. From the first steps of admission to the celebration of graduation we provide guidance support and coordination that empower students to succeed. Our team works closely with students faculty and staff to deliver essential services-from admissions and academic advising to course scheduling exam administration graduation planning policy guidance and reporting-all in support of UNBs academic mission.
WHAT WE OFFER
Full-time 3-Year Term 3 Vacancies Fredericton On-Campus
Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri 8:15 am - 4:30 pm 36.25 hours per week
Additional Working Conditions:
- Evening and weekend work will be required during peak periods.
Salary Range: $51093 - $63874 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Director of Academic Advising the Academic Advisor supports student success by providing developmental advising that empowers students to make informed academic decisions connect with resources and achieve their educational goals. This position works closely to help students and espouses the belief that helping students progress in their academic journey is a core function of the role. The role contributes to a coordinated student-centred advising model that enhances retention persistence and overall student experience.
- Provide developmental academic advising to students at all stages of their degree program both in person and online.
- Guide students on transfer credits course selection degree requirements academic regulations and co-curricular opportunities.
- Help students build self-awareness critical thinking and decision-making skills to support their long-term goals.
- Assist with registration processes academic forms and navigation of university systems while promoting student confidence and independence.
- Advise students facing academic challenges offering strategies action plans and connections to campus resources.
- Monitor student progress using advising technologies identify students at risk and conduct proactive outreach and check-ins.
- Assess student progress toward graduation and provide guidance on completion pathways in coordination with faculty who hold final approval.
- Maintain accurate confidential advising records and contribute to retention and equity-focused initiatives through data-informed strategies.
- Collaborate with faculty advisors and campus partners to deliver coordinated and student-centred support.
- Stay current on academic programs regulations and best practices in advising through continuous professional development.
- Participate in campus events workshops and committees related to advising student success and retention.
- Support colleagues during peak advising periods to ensure high-quality service.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelors degree in a related field.
- 3 years experience in a university environment preferably in academic advising enrolment registration or similar.
- 1 year experience in a customer service role.
Additional Strengths
- Demonstrate knowledge and competence in academic advising procedures policies and technology systems is preferred.
- Thrives in a dynamic fast-paced environment skillfully balancing multiple priorities while embracing the challenges of a demanding role.
- Outgoing people centred individual who thrives on building connections and supporting others.
- Preference for familiarity with Ellucian products and Microsoft 0365.
- Ability to work within university regulations and privacy laws.
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal.
- Ability to rapidly learn adapt and effectively use new technology practices policies and methods.
