Job Summary

Primary Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities Purpose of Job: Works with the Biological collections Curators to digitize and confirm collection records for the James F. Scudday Vertebrate Collection. This position will work with the curators to maintain and digitally preserve specimens organize collection stores & their digital catalog entries and process new incoming material. Also involved with educational outreach regarding collection use. A specific project to demonstrate collection use student will identify research areas within the collection that would benefit from additional future collections. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare maintain catalog and accession specimens. Help to digitize collection for scientific use. Assist Curators in gathering specimens for labs. Work with the Curators to provide educational outreach activities associated with organisms and museums. Present on collection gaps for specific species groups. Other duties as assigned. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times Supervision: direct supervision from Dr. Thornton Larson for day to day instruction. Dr. Larson will also act as the Faculty Mentor within the STEM Internship Program. STEM Internship Program: This position is part of the Title Ill STEM Lobo Track to Success ( LTS ) SRSU STEM Internship Program. Along with the normal job duties the student will learn from the faculty supervisor about the STEM workforce different career pathways research and more. Students will gain knowledge experience and professional connections in the STEM field. Students will have access to professional development tools throughout the internship program (resume building interview practices etc.).
