As a CAP Body Construction PVT Engineer Body onsite at CAP. Engineer will be responsible for Body Construction current model quality workstream for the Explorer/Aviator vehicle lines at Chicago Assembly Plant.
Responsibilities:
- Review daily Vehicle Warranty for proper binning (Process Design Supplier Design Supplier Process)
- Address Warranty/Build Issues/Containment Actions with supporting data at Daily Quality Meetings
- Lead Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for Sheet Metal / Wind Noise Process/Manufacturing concerns
- Provide manufacturing input into the development and prioritization of vehicle quality roadmaps containment and corrective actions
- Assist VRT to assure alignment with Plant internal quality indicators (QLS FCPA) and verify containment actions
- Assist in the development and management of the Quality roadmaps to deliver the Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) objectives (Things Gone Wrong (TGW) Repairs/1000 and Cost Per Unit (CPU) reductions) by implementing revisions to the following:
- Tooling equipment and facilities
- Process
- Error proofing implementation
- Measurement Methods
- Support Health Chart assessments for Sheet Metal / Wind Noise
- Launch Minor/Job#2 programs Added Starters capacity changes and running changes Including:
- Assembly feasibility
- Issue resolution validation and documentation
- Change Control (Determine tooling equipment facilities and labor costs)
- Tooling equipment and facilities development and installation
- Support in plant trials and prove-out associated with:
- Engineering concerns Material Cost Reduction (MCR) actions Engineering Alerts
- Capacity change actions
- Labor cost studies and actions
- Support Vehicle Quality Review report with manufacturing analysis using 6-Sigma problem solving tools
- Process development and production process sheet updates
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or related field or related degree or foreign equivalency degree or a combination of equivalent experience and education
- 3-5 years of knowledge and experience with manufacturing and assembly operations and/or vehicle launches
- Self-starter requiring minimal direction
- Provide problem-solving capabilities
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to operate in a multi-tasking demanding environment and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS in Engineering or related field or related degree or foreign equivalency degree or a combination of equivalent experience and education
- 5-7 years of knowledge and experience with manufacturing and assembly operations and/or vehicle launches
- Background in Six Sigma and/or FMEA principles
- Project Management skills
- Body Construction Manufacturing Engineering program understanding

This position is a salary grade 6.
