The Adult Psychiatric Unit is a 29-bed locked unit. The unit provides comprehensive mental health care to individuals between the ages of 18-59. Individuals over the age of 59 are evaluated for admission on an individual basis. Patients admitted to the unit have a primary DSM 5 diagnosis/es. However patients may also have additional diagnoses including but not limited to Intellectual Disabilities Autism medical comorbidities etc. Patients must be medically stable as a criteria for admission. Safety practices include 15-minute safety checks staff monitoring of all community areas and staff presence during meals and visiting hours. Nursing care daily psychiatric assessments therapy and medication management are provided to meet the emotional behavioral physical cultural educational and spiritual needs of the adult patient population. The nurses work 12-hour shifts (7A & 7P). There is great teamwork among the staff.

How youll contribute

ALicensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who excels in this role:

• Follows the plan of care established by the professional nurse and collaborates with member of the health care team.
• Recognizes reports and documents changes in the patients condition.
• Observes and documents the patients physiological condition such as appearance vital signs level of consciousness or change in behavior and reports this to RN.
• Demonstrates skill and knowledge in carrying out and documenting all nursing interventions ordered by physician (i.e.: administration of medications treatments assistance with ADL; s etc.)
• Demonstrates patients response to interventions carried out.
• Consistently provides and documents reinforcement of patient teaching.

What were looking for

Applicants should have a current state LPN license and be aGraduate of a practical nursing program. Additional requirements include:
