Starting salary $148012 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
Location: Kensington campus in NSW (Hybrid Flexible Working)

The AI Product Manager will be responsible for overseeing the product development lifecycle driving the execution of the product vision and strategy and managing the product backlog. They will work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs translate them into product requirements refining the product backlog and pipeline and monitoring AI product performance while maintaining compliance with ethical standards and university policies. The AI Product Manager plays a key role in guiding the direction development and evolution of the AI suite of systems and tools designed to meet the needs of UNSW in alignment with the AI blueprint and strategy. This role will involve working closely with various stakeholders to ensure that the AI POCs s align with UNSWs strategic goals and deliver value to the University. The AI Product Manager plays a key role in driving AI initiatives forward balancing innovation with practical application to support the universitys mission. The role reports to the Head of Artificial Intelligence and has no direct reports.
Accountabilities:
Collaborate with the Head of AI Enterprise AI Architect and AI Platform Lead to understand and execute the product vision strategy and objectives for AI systems and platforms.
Engage with stakeholders to understand the requirements of AI System collaborating with crossfunctional teams and business leaders to define product strategy requirements feature pipelines and roadmaps.
Provide strategic advice and guidance to the business to promote operational effectiveness and continuous improvement initiatives relating to AI Systems.
Lead the planning execution and delivery of AI projects. Prototypes proof of concepts and pilots with a cross functional virtual team.
Ensuring that AI products comply with the Ethical and Responsible use of AI at UNSW the AI Assurance Framework and university policies.
Monitor and report on the performance of AI products and making data-driven decisions to improve them.
Ensure that all product funds are budgeted approved allocated tracked and utilised effectively by creating a budget plan and monitoring expenditure.
Develop and maintain the product backlog ensuring that it is well-organised prioritised and aligned with the product vision and objectives
Champion the use of Agile methodologies and processes such as Scrum or Kanban to manage the product development lifecycle.
Share knowledge and provide training to promote cross-functional collaboration and skill development within the team.
Skills and Experience:
Tertiary qualification in Information Technology (or equivalent) supplemented with demonstrated success in an IT environment and managing multiple complex projects in a large and diverse organisation and subsequent relevant experience.
Advanced understanding of AI concepts and architectures with handson experience in AI system deployment in AWS or Azure.
Experience in product management methodologies including Agile Scrum and Lean to drive product development and deliver value to clients.
Strong understanding of Cloud infrastructure and platform services to effectively guide the development of AI cloud-based products.
Excellent communication collaboration and stakeholder management skills to work with cross functional teams and ensure alignment of goals and objectives.
Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining product roadmaps backlogs and customer stories prioritising features and improvements based on client needs and business impact.
Analytical and data-driven mindset to make informed decisions using metrics client feedback and market research.
Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges and obstacles that may arise during product development.
Familiarity with product management tools (e.g. Jira Trello) and collaboration platforms (e.g. Confluence Slack) to effectively manage product development activities.
Ability to create and present product demonstrations presentations and other materials to showcase product features and benefits to internal and external stakeholders.
Continuous learning mindset to maintain knowledge of industry trends emerging technologies and best practices in cloud infrastructure services and product management.
Familiarity with security practices and frameworks relevant to AI and cloud environments.
Demonstrated understanding of DevOps principles and practices and relevant certifications in cloud technologies.
Advanced written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence and negotiate at a senior level
An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.
Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
