Key Responsibilities:

As a co-op in the Velys Power R&D department opportunities exist to work on solutions such as electro-mechanical systems and their respective components (powered handpieces (i.e. power tools) attachments and cutting instruments). Additionally these tools will be integrated within a digital ecosystem unlocking new features that currently do not exist for our surgeon customers. You will be provided with a training curriculum including on the job virtual and in classroom trainings.

The incumbent will be encouraged to lead portions of the projects driving product development and value creation initiatives that contribute to continued success of the Velys Power portfolio. You will also be assigned a mentor to provide support throughout the program.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work independently and experience the end-to-end process of product development. There is strong emphasis on providing an outstanding experience within orthopaedic medical device development.

This position will be on-site in Palm Beach Gardens FL.

Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electromechanical) in junior year or above.
• Must be available to work full-time (40 hrs/week) during the Co-Op semester.
• A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
• As this position is based in Palm Beach Gardens FL you must be able to provide your own transportation to this site.
• Experience using engineering calculations computational analysis test protocol development proven problem-solving capabilities and the ability to communicate technical information
• Electro-mechanical software coding and digital/sensor tools experience is an advantage.
• Self-motivated with an interest in anatomic repair and/or medical devices for the orthopedic market
• 3-D modeling skills (Solidworks preferred)
• Permanently authorized to work in the U.S. must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g. H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT OPT or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
