About the role:
The primary role and responsibility of the Instrument Technician is to ensure the effective and efficient processing of all reusable medical devices within the policy and guidelines of the Sterile Processing Centre and State and National Standards. All Instrument Technicians are members of the multidisciplinary Sterile Processing Centre team. Work in all areas of SPC (including Endoscopy suite) to provide the full range of reprocessing services including but not limited to:
Decontamination
High Level Disinfection
Endoscopy
Checking RMDs and setting of instrument trays
Packaging (Sterile Barrier System)
Sterilizing
Sterile storage
Ensures resources equipment and processes checked tested and maintained
Accurate and complete documentation as per operational requirements
Identify trouble shoot and report variances
The classification range for these positions will be IN1 - IN4 ($57002.40 - $73502.00 per annum pro rata for part time).
Your Contribution
Demonstrated ability to read understand and interpret reprocessing procedures/guidelines
Completion or working towards a Certificate III or IV in Health Sterilisation Services for Instrument Technicians
Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritise tasks to ensure completion of all tasks
Demonstrated ability to articulate policies and procedures and communicate with all hospital personnel and external customers/suppliers to attain provision of service
Current National criminal history check or willing to obtain

About The Sterile Processing Centre
The Sterile Processing Centre is responsible for the sterile reprocessing of reusable medical devices (RMDs) in accordance with AS/NZS 4187 / AS 5369 and other local State and National guidelines/policies.
The Sterile Processing Centre as part of St Vincents Perioperative Services provides a critical service enabling and supporting the functioning of St Vincents operating theatres & endoscopy suite. The department operates 24 hours a day and 52 weeks of the year.
