Job Title: Laboratory Research Specialist
Location: Baltimore MD 21224
Job Type: Full-Time 40 Hours per Week
Education Requirement: Bachelors Degree in Biological Sciences or related field
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Research Specialist to support scientific research projects by planning executing and documenting laboratory experiments. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in laboratory techniques equipment maintenance and biological sample management along with the ability to train junior staff and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan execute and arrange laboratory experiments techniques and procedures.
- Perform fundamental and advanced laboratory techniques including tissue culture cell separation protein analysis immunohistochemistry and quantitative/qualitative assays.
- Operate calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments; ensure specimens and equipment are prepared for use.
- Process describe analyze and manage biological samples such as blood and tissue; maintain accurate sample inventory and databases.
- Collect analyze and interpret experimental data; prepare reports summaries and presentations for senior staff.
- Maintain laboratory supply inventory order materials/reagents and ensure proper storage and tracking of consumables.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment; troubleshoot technical issues.
- Train and advise staff on laboratory tests equipment usage and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with hazardous waste handling and laboratory safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences or related field (e.g. Genetics Physiology).
- 5 10 years of experience in life sciences research or related laboratory environment.
- Proven hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and biological research techniques.
- Knowledge of hazardous waste management and laboratory safety practices.
- Strong data management analysis and reporting skills.
