Qualifications:
- Candidates must have a bachelors degree (masters degree preferred) in early childhood education elementary education reading and math special education school psychology or a closely related field and three or more years of successful professional teaching experience.
- Candidates must have experience in helping children develop literacy math and other academic skills.
- Candidates must demonstrate a deep understanding of scientifically based research interventions instructional strategies and approaches for academic and behavior success in elementary schools and of developmentally appropriate instruction for children.
- Candidates must demonstrate the leadership experience organizational skills and communication abilities to effectively coach and support teachers and their grade level teams.
Job Responsibilities:

- Under general direction incumbent(s) oversees the implementation of the 21st Century Grant to include designing program to meet all program goals supervising instructional staff managing budget attending meetings and evaluating student data and completing all required reports in a timely addition incumbent(s) works with District staff community partners and other constituents to ensure the programs are meeting the objectives of the 21st Century Grant.
- Maintains regular communication with campus administration and CST Coordinator to ensure support provided is effective and sufficient.
- The 21st Century Coordinator will attend and contribute to the discussions and record strengths weaknesses history and suggested interventions as discussed during PLC/Student growth meetings.
- The 21st Century Coordinator will work very closely with the PLC/Student Growth Coordinator in supporting with interventions/enrichment through the 21st Century Program for students. They will collect relevant data and share it at the PLC/student growth meetings
- Alongside school principal designs the program to meet the stated academic growth in core subject areas to meet the grant objectives. Coordinates the implementation of curriculum instruction and assessment programs in the after-school classroom and monitors the instructional delivery to targeted students. Consults with the instructional support administration principals and teachers to ensure the program goals are being met. Evaluates and adjusts class offerings to ensure targeted students needs are being achieved.
- Acts as a liaison with community partners school staff students and other stakeholders in regards to the 21st Century community learning center program. Seeks donations and additional grant funds to sustain the program. Coordinates district resources to support program including but not limited to assessment services custodial transportation and food services.
- Works with District and school personnel to ensure compliance with policies and procedures are being adhered to such as emergency hiring use of facility student pick-up lockdowns permission slips and other protocols. Facilitates fire drills and creates emergency plans for after school programs.
- Monitors student attendance of the programs by collecting attendance rosters oversees attendance database and tracking number of days in attendance per student. Researches student assessment and other demographics and enters information into the database. Daily
- Oversees lesson plans and activities implementation maintains discipline and evaluates students development for the 21st Century programs.
- Designs and coordinates adult education classes as instructed in the grant. Researches adult education programs and identifies needs of the community. Evaluates adult education classes and makes revisions to ensure needs are being met.
- Collaborates with Tolleson After School Kids (PHG and AZD)coordinators to support extended learning opportunities as needed.
Program Goals
21st Century Academic Goals:
- 1.1 By June of each program year 65% of regular 21st CCLC attendees in grades 3-7 will increase their Lexile measure by a minimum of 120 points as measured by a pre and post Scholastic Reading Inventory Assessment.
- 1.2 By June of each program year 65% of regular 21st CCLC attendees in grades K-2 will advance one proficiency level in reading as measured by the Illuminate Reading Pre and Post assessment.
- 1.3 By June of each program year 35% of regular 21st CCLC attendees will advance one proficiency level in math as measured by the Illuminate Math Pres and Post assessment.
- Supervises site instructors and related staff for the 21st Century before/after school programs to include interviewing and making hiring recommendations completing site instructor agreements observing classes monitoring work performance determining workloads establishing work schedules conducting performance evaluations performing training functions and maintaining records. Recruits employees to participate in programs.
21st Century Youth Development Goal:
- 2.1 By June of each program year 75% of regular 21st CCLC attendees in grades 4-7 will demonstrate growth as measured by the Search Institute Developmental Assets Profile (DAP) Pre and Post survey.
21st Century Family Engagement Objective:
- 3.1 By June of each program year 65% of adult family members of 21st regular attendees will attend 3 or more family engagement events as measured by event sign-in sheets or year end surveys.
