The Department of Marketing in the College of Business & Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track faculty member in the area of professional sales or digital marketing beginning August 2026 with rank to be determined at hire. This is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Marketing research and service to the university community and profession. Research and teaching expertise should complement existing faculty expertise and should include sales or digital marketing.

Job Details:

The successful candidate will be able to teach some combination of principles of selling advanced sales sales management digital marketing and/or artificial intelligence as part of the Marketing undergraduate and graduate programs. The candidate will also be expected to pursue an active research agenda that engages undergraduate and graduate students results in publications and contributes to advancing the department university the profession and society. The candidate will also be expected to participate in service activities and embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community.

Responsibilities:

Full-Time teaching responsibilities include some combination of the following courses: principles of selling advanced sales sales management digital marketing and/or artificial intelligence along with a willingness to mentor students for marketing/sales competitions outside the classroom. Research expectations include peer-reviewed journal articles case studies books (book chapters) and other intellectual contributions defined in the CoBE Faculty addition the Department values faculty members who have experience or a willingness to serve as advisors/mentors to marketing-related student organizations and are encouraged to engage students in undergraduate research or other scholarly and creative activities. Service responsibilities include committee service at the departmental college and university levels as well as participation in community organizations and the discipline as relevant to the candidates expertise and interest. Faculty at UW-W may be required to teach in a variety of formats including in-person online and/or in a hybrid format or courses in the evenings or on weekends. All students faculty and staff are expected to ensure their materials are digitally accessible and utilize standard technology platforms supported by UW-Whitewater. Examples include but are not limited to Navigate Canvas and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook which is essential for university email communications and scheduling.

Department:

The Department of Marketing ( is one of the seven departments in the College of Business and Economics ( There are 15 full-time faculty and staff members supporting approximately 800 undergraduate majors minors and certificates with emphases in professional sales digital marketing and artificial intelligence and sports and experiential marketing. The Department of Marketing also serves approximately 100 graduate-level students with an MBA marketing emphasis or as part of our recently launched MS in Marketing Program. Marketing faculty also teach in the Doctor of Business Administration program and serve as dissertation advisors. The Department also hosts the internationally recognized UW-Whitewater Institute for Sales Excellence and is a full member of the University Sales Center Alliance (USCA). The collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) has held or shared the AMA International Chapter of the Year for 14 consecutive years and the Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE) chapter has a strong sales competition presence. The College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is the largest AACSB-accredited business school in the state of Wisconsin. The College enrolls approximately 3800 business undergraduate students and offers 15 majors and 26 emphases. Nearly 1000 graduate students are enrolled in a breadth of online and on-campus programs including the Masters of Business Administration (with 12 unique emphases including Marketing) Master of Science in Marketing Master of Science in Cybersecurity Master of Science in Data Analytics Master of Science in Environmental Health and Safety Master of Science in Finance Master of Science in Education in School Business Management and the Doctorate of Business Administration.

Compensation:

The minimum starting salary for this position will be $125000 candidates can expect a salary commensurate with the candidates education related experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. or other equivalent terminal degree from an AACSB-accredited institution in Marketing/Sales is required. ABD candidates may apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in August 2026; if not they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January 2027 in advance of their first scheduled review. Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence with an emphasis on promoting the success of undergraduate and graduate students willingness to work with student organizations and mentor students outside the classroom clear evidence of scholarly potential commitment to working with diverse populations and serving as active member of the university community. Salary is commensurate with academic preparation and experience.
