A Day in the Life:

The Payment Specialist processes incoming payments financial transactions billing changes and other related functions for the Payment Services team. Additional duties include processing bank returns electronic payment reconciliation and other support tasks on all administration systems. The individual in this role must effectively communicate with other employees and professionally correspond with external customers including policyholders agents and this role work is performed under general supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:

Accurately process routine and moderately complex service requests according to Standard Operating Procedures and within established service guidelines.

  • Accurately follow procedures to process incoming payments financial transactions billing changes bank returns and other related payments.
  • Ensure all payment processing activities comply with company policies regulations and legal requirements.
  • Understand the importance of the work responsible for and the consequences of incorrect or incomplete work.
  • Make recommendations and provide input to resolve complex problems.
  • Ability to work with staff outside of team on requests requiring additional specialized skills.
  • Document decisions in the policy file and inform others as needed.
  • Recommend improvements to processes/procedures and assist in implementing process enhancements.
  • Provide progress reports/updates on the status of individual cases and projects.
  • Accurately document financial history of customer contracts.
  • Escalate complex payment issues to senior-level team members.

Provide effective written and verbal communication.

  • Utilize template letters to correspond with external customers making necessary adjustments when appropriate.
  • Be available for internal phone calls to act as a knowledgeable resource for other areas.
  • Seek assistance/guidance as needed to provide the best support possible and report any issues the arise.

Help ensure that team standards and goals are maintained.

  • Prioritize and process work according to team standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet turnaround expectations.
  • Manage schedule adjusting break and lunch times to ensure sufficient team coverage of phones and processing workload.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and team building activities either virtually or in person.
  • Suggest updates to team procedures and reference material.

Perform other related work as requested or required


Schedule: This is full-time hourly position with the hours of 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m.CST Monday - Friday.


Essential to Your Success:

  • Ability to actively listen and respond appropriately to others
  • Intermediate communication skills - verbal and written
  • General PC and Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Ability to research and follow-up
  • Knowledge of basic accounting skills
  • Organized analytical and detail oriented
  • Motivated self-starter with a commitment of personal growth
  • Ability to work within a team environment and individually
  • Typing skills of at least 40 words per minute and 5500 keystrokes per hour alphanumeric.


    Education Requirements:

    • Minimum: High School or GED.
    • Preferred: Associates Degree or equivalent experience.


    Years of Experience:

    • A minimum of one year of NGL processing experience preferred.
    • A minimum of two to three years of business experience preferred in lieu of NGL experience.
