Process Engineer Co-Op Spring 2026
Burr Ridge IL
Our Process Engineers design innovative and creative solutions to company issues. We can help identify and resolve a bottleneck in processes as well as any need to design a new facility. A Process Engineer Co-op learns how to transform raw materials into finished products and uses this information to design the most efficient and effective process for our clients. We refine manufacturing processes for efficiency government regulations and cost benefits.
The Process Engineer Co-op will learn how toperform routine aspects of engineering assignments applying knowledge of basic engineering principles and using prescribed methods. At the end of the term the Co-op should be able to demonstrate a familiarity of engineering design and construction techniques and are comfortable handling multiple project responsibilities.
Responsibilities
  • Assists in gathering field data
  • With supervision uses design criteria document(s) to meet the project objectives
  • Ensures quality and technical accuracy of assigned deliverables
  • Follows the BSI Standard Operating Procedures and Client Standards
  • With supervision performs necessary calculations and design effort to prepare deliverables
  • Coordinates work with Designers on a project
  • Meets individual schedule and budget objectives on assigned projects
  • With supervision selects appropriate construction materials
  • With supervision participates in construction support startup and commissioning efforts
  • Occasionally interfaces with other design discipline counterparts and project management as needed
  • Learning the role of other disciplines and overall project requirements during the project lifecycle
  • Identifies and communicates scope change for discipline
  • Continually communicates their individual forecasted staffing requirements for their assigned projects
Requirements
  • Pursuing a bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering
  • No prior work experience required but Co-ops are a plus
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Proficient with MS Excel and Word
  • Can apply theoretical chemical engineering lessons to real world problems
Hourly Rate:$17.50 - $22/hr. based on previous experience and college semesters completed
