The Property Group Limited (TPG) is a locally owned property and RMA planning consultancy bringing Kiwis together to build Aotearoa New Zealand for over two decades. We are on the hunt for a Principal or Senior Planner to join our Palmerston North office.

About the role

We are seeking an accomplished Principal or Senior Planner to join our Palmerston North office. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a high-performing team as we expand TPGs planning services across the Central North Island region. As a Principal Planner you will provide technical leadership to our Central North Island planning team and play a pivotal role in the delivery of high-quality planning services.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Resource Consent Acquisition and Due Diligence
  • Resource Consent processing for local authorities
  • Designations and Notice of Requirements
  • District Plan Review and Policy Services
  • Planning input into projects led by other parts of the TPG business (e.g. property development urban regeneration).

You will play a key role supporting the Planning Manager by drawing on your own professional network to help grow our client base in the region. You will also take on a day-to-day technical mentoring role with the regional planning team helping to guide and develop our junior team members.


About you

We would love to hear from you if you have experience providing technical planning expertise and leadership and have the following skills and experience or the potential to develop in these areas:

  • Eight years or more regulatory RMA planning experience ideally gained in government or a private consultancy
  • A passion for delivering astute and practical planning advice
  • Ability to combine your technical planning expertise with a keen eye for business development opportunities
  • Strong relationship management skills with a proven track record of forging strong relationships with colleagues and clients
  • An understanding of the local planning framework in the Central North Island region would be an advantage.
