THE ROLE

We are seeking a skilled Mainframe System Db2 Database Administrator to join our Database team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of the Database environment performance tuning backup and recovery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support mainframe database software and environment to best practise standards.
Design recommend and/or implement solutions to address database related performance (or other) issues.
Troubleshoot when issues arise.
Maintain operational focus to support all SLAs.
Participate in rostered 24x7 support.
Support and advise the applications development teams.
Attend regular meetings within the technology and applications teams and collaborate on operational and initiative-based projects.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential
A minimum of 5 years experience in a Database Administration role.
DB2 for zOS Systems Database Administration experience
Proficient in database design and development.
Knowledge of DB2 for zOS database technologies and database design principles
Experienced in Application performance tuning and optimization.
Solid SQL coding knowledge preferably with SQL Tuning/Advanced SQL experience.
Good Analytical and problem-solving skills
Understanding and support of Backup and recovery processes
Good oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business and IT colleagues.
Working knowledge of IBM DB2 Housekeeping and performance analysis toolset i.e. Automation Tool Admin Tool Query Monitor SQL Performance Analyzer

Desirable
Experience performing Db2 software upgrades and maintenance.
Exposure to mainframe Db2 systems Monitoring methodologies and toolsets
Understanding of Cyber Risk and Audit processes
Knowledge in Scripting
Knowledge in Disaster Recovery concepts Data Modelling Network and Storage
Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or related fields
