Job Description




This position functions as a first-line professional manager of professional positions in a complex work area and is responsible for the management of the Supportive Services Section Metro Business & Workforce Engagement. Exercises independent judgement in the oversight development and implementation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and Small Business Program (SBP) including outreach and recruitment Bonding Education Program Small Business Lending Program Mentor Protg and career outreach with local high schools. Serve as a member on the Unified Certification Program (UCP) committee. This position is responsible for the management of staff involvement with any job creation efforts and DBE and SBP Metro program outreach. This position is responsible for utilizing the Departments standard specifications for construction and administrative rules governing the prequalification of contractors and consultants and interpreting all applicable Federal Regulatory Program Requirements while maintaining alignment with OBDs and Michigan Department of Transportations (MDOT)s overall strategy identified in the business plan. Maintain positive public relations with all State DBE/Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) UCP agencies State and Federal government officials unions various associations general public and transportation industry contractors.

The Salary listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate through the maximum rate of the Departmental Manager 14 position.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a bachelors degree in any major.

Experience
Four years of professional experience including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
