Location: Great Barrington Massachusetts. This position requires working on-site in the office five (5) days per week.
Job Summary:
AIER is seeking a talented IT Technician to deliver technical support to employees and ensure the smooth operation of our computer systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues performing regular system maintenance providing technical guidance to staff managing audio and video equipment and assisting with campus IT infrastructure needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues for desktops laptops printers and other peripherals.
- Install configure and troubleshoot software hardware and peripheral devices.
- Set up configure and maintain network devices including routers switches and firewalls.
- Perform routine maintenance on computer systems including updates backups and antivirus management.
- Monitor maintain and enhance network security and integrity.
- Provide technical support to employees for hardware software audio and video equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to video conferencing systems cameras and related audio-visual equipment.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure computer audio and video equipment functionality for presentations meetings and events.
- Assist with campus infrastructure projects including cabling networking and equipment installations.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of technical procedures solutions and inventory.
- Support the planning and implementation of IT projects ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Manage and maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT assets.
- Assist the IT and Security Manager and IT Director with projects and initiatives as needed to support organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in IT support or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in operating systems including Windows macOS and iOS.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting hardware software audio and video equipment.
- Ability to work independently manage priorities effectively and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A Network or Security are a plus.
- Alignment with AIERs mission and vision and support of its core values.
Physical Demands:
- Mobility: Ability to move around the office and various work sites including climbing ladders and accessing tight spaces including running cables under desks and in other confined areas. Ability to bend crouch and lift.
- Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle control or feel objects tools or controls.
- Lifting: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Vision: Specific vision abilities required include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Hearing: Ability to hear and understand spoken information in a noisy environment.
Work Environment:
- Office Setting: Primarily works in an office environment with standard office equipment.
- On-Site Support: Occasionally works in server rooms data centers or other locations with varying temperatures and noise levels.
- Hours: Standard business hours with occasional evening or weekend work for maintenance or emergency support.
- Safety: Adheres to company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
