Reports To: Desktop Services Manager
Duty Days: 260 Days
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Grade: AS04
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree(preferred) College hours high school diploma or GED (required)
A Certification preferred
Experience in the repair of computer equipment and peripherals preferred
Possess a valid Texas Operators License
Maintain safe driving record
Experience troubleshooting Windows Operating Systems
Experience troubleshooting Microsoft SSCM / WDS Installations
Primary Purpose:
Provide all campuses with quality equipment service and repair. Provide expertise and guidance regarding maintenance and operation of District equipment to all campus personnel as required.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair of districts computers and peripherals on a scheduled basis.
- Record activities and charges on Desktop Services request for service system.
- Document campus technology asset inventory moves using assets management software.
- Deliver unpack set-up and test newly purchased equipment.
- Organize and maintain computer and peripheral parts stock.
- Advise customers on equipment conditions.
- Order parts as needed.
- Perform yearly inventory of computer parts.
- Perform preventative maintenance on systems during the summer.
- Supervise and evaluate summer help.
- Drive and maintain districts vehicles if required.
- Assist in the evaluation of computer accessories (e.g. USB devices print cartridges etc.) for possible purchase.
- Report accidents and refer potential safety hazards to supervisor.
- Relate to and communicate positively with other district employees.
- As time permits train in the repair/maintenance of other district supported equipment.
- Must be proficient in verbal and written communications.
- Ability to interface with contract vendors.
Equipment Used:
Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installation and personal computers and peripherals.
Working Conditions:
Climbing stooping bending kneeling lifting of heavy equipment (50 lbs); frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment; frequent district wide travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day.
