Spectacles is home to our hardware products with a world-class research development and design team. We focus on pushing the boundaries of what a camera can be specifically by overlaying computing onto the real world. Spectacles
This team of designers prototypers user researchers and product managers works in a highly collaborative environment to build the products and experiences that bring our community together in new and special ways.
Were looking for a Design Engineer to join the Spectacles team!
What youll do:
Push the limits of AR on wearable devices and create innovative user experiences
Work closely with the product design teams to create and iterate on new prototypes
Work closely with engineering teams to build sophisticated prototypes
Work with user researchers to test new ideas and iterate on feedback
Present work directly to the CEO and company leadership
Build fun innovative products that impact the direction of the company
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Expertise in designing and building delightful interactive experiences
Ability to think creatively and lead ideation process on broad product areas
Proficiency with creating experiences for VR/AR
Proficiency with Javascript and C#/C
Solid understanding of real time AR development tools and 3D engines (e.g. Unity Unreal Lens Studio)
Prototyping mindset ability to make quick proof-of-concept and to know when to abandon ideas
Familiarity with 3D math linear algebra 3D geometry graphics and rendering
Excellent communication and presentation skills youll be expected to clearly communicate design decisions to leadership the rest of the team and to engineers
Ability to think at a high level about product strategy
Capable of acting as a Product Manager when needed
Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced sometimes ambiguous work environment
A creative problem solver who has lots of ideas and sees solutions when most would not
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/BA degree or equivalent years of experience
3 years of software engineering experience
Proficiency in designing prototyping and programming with real-time 3D engines (e.g. Unity Unreal Lens Studio)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with 2D/3D design software (e.g. Figma Blender C4D etc)
Experience using LLMs and other generative models for design and development
Bringing something new to the table: whether thats a unique understanding of a particular field high level of visual craft (2D or 3D) or expertise in a relevant field like AI CV ML 3D graphics HCI etc.

Compensation
In the United States work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidates starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills experience qualifications work location and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
The base salary range for this position is $157000-$235000 annually.This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
