Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Overall Site Compliance: The EHS management team shall ensure site compliance with applicable safety requirements for OSHA EPA and DOT regulations. Includes applicable state and local level regulations.

  • OSHA Regulatory Expertise: Competencies to include industrial hygiene hazard communication laboratory chemical hygiene plans respiratory protection general safety confined spaces lockout tag out ergonomics forklift safety hazardous chemical material handling and storage behavioral base safety recordkeeping management workers compensation and process safety management (PSM).

  • Manage all activities associated with ensuring compliance of DPTs manufacturing and laboratory testing facilities at a federal state and local level with RCRA CERCLA SARA CAA TITLE V SWDA CWA TSCA DOT and RMP.

  • Develop and update all applicable programs and plans including Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan and Emergency Response Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan Waste Minimization Plans Pollution Prevention Opportunity Assessments Hazardous Waste Management Plan Slug Control Plan Risk Management Plan etc.

  • Assure all regulatory submissions and fees are accurate and meet all filing deadlines including but not limited to Tier Two Hazardous Waste Generation Fee Steers/Annual Waste Summary Bi-annual Hazardous Waste Reports Regulated Medical Waste Reports Air Permits Hazardous Materials Permit Industrial Wastewater Permit Stormwater Permit etc.

  • Assure all standard operating procedures manufacturing batch records and employee training records document compliance with all federal state and local programs and plans listed in Item 2 & 3 above.

  • Audits: Manage OSHA EPA other regulatory bodies FM Global and Customer audits. This includes preparation for and managing responses to agencies and customer audit reports managing CAPA and tracking regulatory commitments for all San Antonio locations.

  • Budgets: Develop and maintain budgets for the Regulatory & Compliance team in support of business initiatives and strategies.

  • Customer Interface: Develop and maintain relationships with customers for current and future products.

  • Internal EHS Audits: Develop plans for and manages the preparation of GAP analyses through the execution of internal audits and the development of best management practices (CAPA) to improve performance and compliance with internal policies and procedures.

  • Cross-Site/Vendor Audits: In conjunction with Purchasing and cross-site leadership support the business by performing external EHS audits as needed.

  • Actively manage and participate on cross-functional teams optimizing the rejection movement and final disposition of raw materials bulk and finished product solid waste (hazardous and nonhazardous) generated by R&D QC and Operations.

  • Within area of responsibility understand and comply with all DPT safety environmental and quality practices and procedures as outlined in organizational/departmental guidelines and SOPs as well as applicable federal state and local regulations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

  • Bachelors degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in a scientific area of specialty is required. Masters in occupational and health sciences preferred.

  • Minimum of ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

  • Minimum of eight years of related industry experience. This experience should encompass Medical Devices OTC and Rx Pharmaceuticals.

  • Wide ranging managerial and leadership skills including compliance management.

  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA EPA and TCEQ regulations is required.
