Job Summary

Duties

- Screens and evaluates patients who have problems with communication thinking or swallowing and makes a care plan that follows all necessary standards.
- Uses standard tests and research-based methods to guide treatments.
- Checks how well patients are improving and changes treatments as needed keeping records that meet rules and standards.
- Looks at how effective treatments are and makes changes based on patient evaluations and refers patients if necessary.
- Offers advice and support to patients their families caregivers and other people involved in their care regarding speech issues.
- Communicates clearly with supervisors and team members about patients progress challenges and care plans.
- Prepares a complete summary of services provided when patients are discharged following all required rules.
- Documents all necessary information in the electronic system and keeps patient records as per company policies.
- Accurately records the time spent providing treatment according to all rules.
- Participates in required meetings such as discussions about patient care and reviews of service usage.
- Attends company-required training sessions workshops and conferences.
- Helps obtain any necessary equipment or supplies according to regulations.
- Can supervise and assist new speech-language pathologists and students.
- Follows professional standards codes of conduct and ethics as a speech-language pathologist.
- Holds an active ASHA membership and state license.

**Requirements:**
- At least 1 year of experience as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) - REQUIRED
- Experience in long-term care (LTC) or rehabilitation - REQUIRED
- Texas state license - REQUIRED
- Certification as a CCC SLP - REQUIRED
- Preferred: 3 years of experience with active Clinical Competence Standards (CCS).
