We are looking for a Structures Engineer - Modifications to come onboard in our Engineering Directorate in Lawrences team: a team of 10 collaborators!

Your Mission

Within the Engineering Structures Department the jobholder will contribute to all structural activities related to Type Design/Type Certificate changes from the technical evaluation of the request/need up to the certification of the change.

He/She will follow the design development (through PDR CDR) in liaison with other ATR Engineering Departments and Partners Design Offices (Leonardo/Airbus Atlantic/Airbus) advising and supporting the understanding of applicable regulations and Means of Compliance and their constraints and contributing to design reviews by providing certification expertise.

He/She will contribute to the continued airworthiness process carrying out preliminary investigations on structures-related in-service events potentially affecting the safety of the operations and will also be involved in the aircraft structures quality improvement process by analyzing defect reports defining or proposing solutions in order to obtain better product reliability and lower maintenance cost.

He/She shall be able to challenge the industrialization of the design and the fabrication means foreseen by the partners and suppliers for serial manufacturing of ATR products.

Activities

  • Contribute to all structural activities related to a TC change from the technical evaluation of the request/need up to the certification of the change.
  • Carry out investigations on structures-related in-service events in a continued airworthiness framework.
  • Coordinate laboratory activities for technical expertise of recovered parts from in-service aircraft; analyze test/laboratory reports to identify failure root causes and propose design solutions.
  • Liaise with partners and suppliers design offices (Leonardo Airbus Atlantic Equipment suppliers) and follow up the design and investigation activities under their responsibility.
  • Participate to meeting with EASA for certification of major changes and continued airworthiness issues on structures related topics.
  • Provide transversal technical support to other ATR departments in the framework of quality investigations (ISQS Working groups) or external communication (TPS Talk about and meetings with customers).
  • Provide technical support to airlines for queries concerning design evolution/configuration.
  • Contribute to technical documentation update (e.g. CMM AMM JIC Service Bulletin).
  • Assess industrial impacts of modifications.
  • Participate in the integration of technical solutions.
  • Analyse design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitions.

About you

  • Field of study: Aerospace/Mechanical/Manufacturing
  • At least 10 years of professional experience.
  • Good knowledge of aircraft structures (design and stress) aircraft architecture and design development.
  • Good knowledge of airframe materials processes technologies and relevant documentation.
  • Solid understanding of standard drafting practices; experience with GD&T and dwgs reading/model interrogation.
  • Ability to verify the compliance of a detailed design solution versus baseline of validated requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulation and certification requirements (JAR25/CS25; PART21).
  • Good knowledge and understanding of elementary parts fabrication (both composite and metallic technologies) and assembly of small/large aircraft components production management and industrialization principles
  • Knowledge of Lean principles would be a plus

Votre mission

Au sein du dpartement Engineering Structures le titulaire du poste contribuera toutes les activits structurelles lies aux changements de conception/certificat de type partir de lvaluation technique de la demande/du besoin jusqu la certification du changement.

Il/elle suivra le dveloppement de la conception (par PDR CDR) en liaison avec les autres dpartements dingnierie dATR et les bureaux dtudes des partenaires (Leonardo/Airbus Atlantic/Airbus) en conseillant et en soutenant la comprhension des rglementations applicables des moyens de conformit et de leurs contraintes et en contribuant aux revues de conception en apportant son expertise en matire de certification.

Il/elle contribuera au processus de maintien de la navigabilit en menant des enqutes prliminaires sur les vnements en service lis aux structures et susceptibles daffecter la scurit des oprations. Il/elle participera galement au processus damlioration de la qualit des structures daronefs en analysant les rapports de dfauts en dfinissant ou en proposant des solutions afin dobtenir une meilleure fiabilit du produit et de rduire les cots de maintenance.

Il/elle sera capable de remettre en cause lindustrialisation de la conception et des moyens de fabrication prvus par les partenaires et fournisseurs pour la fabrication en srie des produits ATR.

Activits

  • Contribuer toutes les activits lies une modification de la structure avion partir de lvaluation technique de la demande/du besoin jusqu la certification de la modification.
  • Mener des enqutes sur les vnements en service lis aux structures dans le cadre du maintien de la navigabilit.
  • Coordonner les activits de laboratoire pour lexpertise technique des pices rcupres sur les aronefs en service ; analyser les rapports dessai/de laboratoire pour identifier les causes profondes des dfaillances et proposer des solutions de conception.
  • Assurer la liaison avec les bureaux dtudes des partenaires et fournisseurs (Leonardo Airbus Atlantic fournisseurs dquipements) et suivre les activits de conception et dinvestigation sous leur responsabilit.
  • Participer aux runions avec lEASA pour la certification des changements majeurs et les questions de maintien de la navigabilit sur les sujets lis aux structures.
  • Fournir un support technique transversal aux autres dpartements dATR dans le cadre des enqutes de qualit (ISQS groupes de travail) ou de la communication externe (TPS Talk About et runions avec les clients).
  • Fournir un support technique aux compagnies ariennes pour les questions relatives lvolution de la conception/configuration.
  • Contribuer la mise jour de la documentation technique (par exemple CMM AMM JIC Service Bulletin).
  • valuer limpact industriel des modifications.
  • Participer lintgration des solutions techniques.
  • Analyser les principes de conception/construction afin dvaluer les dveloppements ralisables.

propos de vous

  • Domaine dtudes: Gnie Aronautique/Mcanique/Industriel
  • Au moins 10 ans dexprience professionnelle.
  • Bonne connaissance des structures daronefs (Design et Stress) de larchitecture des aronefs et du dveloppement de la conception.
  • Bonne connaissance des matriaux des processus et des technologies relatifs aux cellules daronefs et de la documentation pertinente.
  • Solide comprhension des pratiques de dessin standard ; connaissance de la GD&T et de la lecture des dwgs/interrogation des modles.
  • Capacit vrifier la conformit dune solution de conception dtaille par rapport un ensemble dexigences valides.
  • Connaissance des exigences en matire de rglementation et de certification (JAR25/CS25 ; PART21).
  • Bonne connaissance et comprhension de la fabrication de pices lmentaires (technologies composites et mtalliques) et de lassemblage de composants daronefs de petite ou grande taille de la gestion de la production et des principes dindustrialisation
  • La connaissance des principes Lean serait un atout supplmentaire.
