Financial Services Specialist

Make a Difference One Tax Return at a Time.
As a Financial Services Specialist youll play a key role in making tax season less stressful and more empowering for our clients. Working closely with the Financial Services Coordinator youll support year-round tax prep oversee volunteer engagement and bring financial education to life across our community.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and delivering training for volunteers and seasonal staff using IRS-issued guidelines and curriculum tailored for VITA certification.
- Becoming certified in IRS tax law at multiple levels and for all allowable tax years.
- Preparing and e-filing tax returns year-round; updating case management HUB and IRS systems with accurate client data.
- Troubleshooting rejected returns: contacting clients resolving issues and reporting outcomes to help us track impact across the territory.
- Acting as the primary resource for tax-related questions at your location and its associated drop-off sites.
- Supporting virtual filing options through partnerships with local organizations including coordinating drop-off and Assistor locations.
- Recruiting and training volunteers from the community schools and local businesses; scheduling supervising and tracking their hours and performance.
- Facilitating financial wellness workshops coordinating guest speakers preparing training environments and assisting clients in-person and virtually.
What Were Looking For:
- Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience)
- At least 2 years of accounting or tax-related experience
- Solid understanding of tax law and willingness to complete IRS certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with TaxSlayer is a plus
- Strong interpersonal training and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a passion for serving the community
