Laboratory Support Technician-Lab-Ankeny North

The Laboratory Support Technician (LST) processes laboratory specimens for testing evaluates specimen acceptability enters patient and test information into the computer and responds to requests for information from customers. This position serves in the Laboratorys main communication and customer relations center. The employee monitors test requests in the order/entry system. This position contributes directly to patient care by accurately and timely processing specimens and dispersing information both in and outside the Laboratory.

Prioritizes specimens and relays special requests and all additional information.

EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent. Training as a unit clerk medical assistant medical secretary or phlebotomist is preferred. Coursework in biology and/or chemistry is considered. Must be able to read write and speak fluent English. EXPERIENCE: No experience is required. Previous employment in a medical setting in computer operations and/or with telephone demands is preferred.
