Adolescent and Youth Development Officer - Minya

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Adolescent & Youth Development Officer will support the meaningful engagement empowerment and participation of adolescents and youth across all stages of the PATHWAY project a gender-transformative initiative focused on improving adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Egypt. The Officer will work closely with project staff community structures youth groups and local partners to ensure that young people particularly girls and marginalized youth are meaningfully involved in shaping and benefiting from the project. The role will also contribute to capacity building youth-led initiatives and the integration of adolescent perspectives into programming advocacy and decision-making processes.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Project Implementation and youth engagement & empowerment

• Support the implementation of the PATHWAY project activities related to adolescents and youth development at the community and facility levels.
• Lead the implementation of youth engagement strategies to ensure adolescents especially girls are active agents of change.
• Support the formation training and mentoring of youth groups peer educators and ambassadors.
• Facilitate youth-led initiatives campaigns and outreach promoting gender equality bodily autonomy and SRHR.
• Ensure youth participation in community dialogues policy discussions and project review processes with emphasis on adolescent girls inclusion.
• Ensuring gender equality outcomes are embedded in all reporting mechanisms (i.e. meetings documentation reports etc.)

Planning and Reporting

• Contribute to the development of weekly monthly and quarterly work plans in coordination with the project team.
• Prepare and submit timely progress reports field updates and documentation as required by the project.

Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL):

• Collect and compile project data using standardized tools and ensure timely reporting to the Community Engagement and Advocacy Senior Officer and MEAL team.
• Supporting AGYWs economic empowerment in line with the implementation of the VSLAs.
• Participate in routine monitoring visits to ensure quality service delivery and compliance with gender equality and safeguarding standards.
• Support documentation of lessons learned success stories and case studies related to ASRH interventions.

Capacity Building & Leadership Development

Design and deliver training sessions and mentoring programs on leadership life skills SRHR gender equality and advocacy.

Build the capacity of project staff and partners on adolescent engagement safeguarding and do-no-harm practices.

Support the integration of age-appropriate gender-sensitive education and communication materials across project activities.

Coordination & Collaboration

Work closely with technical leads in Gender Equality Community Mobilization and SRHR to align youth engagement with project goals.

Collaborate with schools youth networks and community organizations to strengthen safe and inclusive spaces for adolescents.

• Engage families and community leaders to foster a supportive environment for adolescent participation.

Monitoring Evaluation Accountability & Learning (MEAL)

• Contribute to the development and use of tools that capture youth participation and outcomes.
• Document and share success stories lessons learned and case studies from youth engagement.
• Support data collection and reporting related to adolescent and youth engagement indicators.

Safe Programming

• Ensure all youth-related activities comply with Save the Childrens safeguarding child protection and gender equality policies.
• Collaborate with Program Operations to ensure activities are safe and inclusive for adolescents and youth.

Other Duties:

Ensure compliance with Save the Childrens policies and procedures including child safeguarding gender equality and code of conduct.

Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the Senior Health Officer or Project Manager in support of the project.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in Social Work Public Health Education Youth Development Gender Studies or a related field.

Training in adolescent development SRHR gender inclusion or youth engagement is an asset.

• Minimum 23 years of experience working directly with adolescents and youth notably girls ideally in SRHR or community-based programming.
• Strong understanding of adolescent development gender-transformative programming and participatory methods.
• Experience organizing and facilitating youth and/or girl-led trainings dialogues and events.
• Ability to engage with diverse youth populations including marginalized or at-risk groups.
• Strong coordination and communication skills with adolescents families and community stakeholders.
• Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with basic MEAL tools.
