Position: EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR

FRIENDS of Broomfield is dedicated to enhancing communities by creating opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through an innovative and person-centered approach.
The EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR position provides ongoing supported employment including job coaching job placement and job development for adult individuals with IDD. The EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR works directly with individuals to locate successful and meaningful employment and to assist with learning job tasks and duties to employer specifications. The EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR works with a caseload of adult individuals who have goals to achieve greater independence meaningful inclusion and engagement in the community as well as the ability to earn a paycheck.
The EMPLOYMENT COORDINATORs work environment and schedule will change daily as support work takes place in various businesses in Broomfield and the surrounding areas. The EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR position requires the ability to work independently with excellent self-management and scheduling skills and is also part of a team that works together to routinely and consistently provide support coverage and technical advice to one another. Hours are based around the supported individuals work schedules but are generally Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Recognize the needs and desires of each individual and provide appropriate support.
- Provide individualized support on the job; assisting individuals to perform job tasks and duties to employers specifications
- Practice positive and professional interpersonal skills with individuals for continuing success on the job.
- Provide job development activities and job placement support to assist individuals with obtaining successful and inclusive community employment.
- Provide transportation for job development activity in the community and to and from different work sites as needed using personal vehicle. A company vehicle use may also be reserved as needed.
- Provide consistent routines positive reinforcement motivation inspiration and moral support to the individuals supported.
- Ability to handle crisis management according to established policy procedures and guidelines.
- Ability to handle minor issues that arise including de-escalating re-directing reporting progress as well as incidents or problems to the Director.
- Consistent and effective communication with supervisor individuals employers families care providers DVR counselors case managers Supported Employment team members and other members of the interdisciplinary team (IDT) as needed or requested.
- Attend Supported Employment team meetings as well as yearly individual support plan meetings for each individual along with IDT meeting as needed and/or requested.
- Act as an advocate for the individual fostering and supporting a two-way relationship of respect and dignity between the individual their employer and other community members.
- Understand each persons DVR Plan for Employment (IPE) or Case Management Individual Service Plan (ISP) and assist the individual with creating and working towards measureable goals that align with the support services and units authorized within their plans.
- Document concise and objective progress notes in Therap that provide information on what supports you are providing along with the progress of each individual.
- Keep up with required trainings including First Aid/CPR Safety Care and Relias.
Job Qualifications
- Experience working with adult individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities preferably in work settings.
- National Supported Employment Professional Certification preferred.
- A. B.S. in psychology human services or related field preferred.
- Reliable transportation possession of a valid drivers license and the ability to meet FRIENDS driving requirements.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Dedicated to working as part of a team to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Reports to: Director of Supported Employment
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (weekends and holidays as needed may vary depending on support needs for individual work schedules; we work when they work)
Classification: Full Time/ Non-Exempt
Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour depending on experience
