EVENT STAFF SUPERVISOR Job Number: 162 Salary: $18.80 Department: Event Services Office Days/Hours:MondaySunday 1020 hrs/-person summer availability is required. Duties: - Supervise and lead teams of event staff in the setup monitoring and breakdown of event spaces including chairs tables staging audiovisual equipment and dcor.
- Oversee event operations from start to finish serving as the clients primary point of contact and ensuring excellent customer service throughout the event lifecycle.
- Assign and coordinate staff responsibilities for pre-event preparation active event support and post-event cleanup ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
- Conduct light cleaning and janitorial oversight ensuring that staff complete tasks such as trash removal vacuuming wiping surfaces and resetting venues for future use.
- Perform and delegate administrative tasks including processing client requests maintaining event records updating scheduling systems tracking inventory and reporting on event outcomes.
- Train mentor and provide feedback to event staff fostering a professional team-oriented environment with a strong focus on customer service.
- Support and help lead Student Union programs including the Summer in the Union program (providing tours and overseeing activities for incoming students) ASUCLA Benefits U and ASUCLAs sustainability initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety facility and departmental policies during all events.
- Review all event details prior to event date and coordinate w/ event manager to understand itinerary and client m needs. Details provided by EMS (and event documents)
Requirements: - Demonstrated leadership ability with strong organizational and supervisory skills.
- Excellent teamwork communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously with minimal direct oversight.
- Capable of performing physical tasks including lifting at least 50 pounds and overseeing staff completing similar tasks.
- Willingness to perform and supervise light cleaning/janitorial duties as needed to maintain event spaces.
- Availability varies weekly; must be available at least 20 hours MondayFriday and 6 hours SaturdaySunday with at least one morning and evening shift required.
- Must be able to work on-site during the summer months of June through September.
