Local Land Services (LLS) was established in January 2014 to provide quality customer focused services to landholders and the community across New South Wales. The organisation brings together the agricultural advice biosecurity natural resource management emergency services and Soil Conservation Service functions previously provided by 28 organisations into a single organisation comprising around 950 staff with a budget of approximately $225 million.

About the Role

This important role provides strategy and planning behind delivery of invasive pest management programs within the North Coast. The role sits within the North Coast LLS invasive pest team who work closely with public and private land managers to deliver effective pest management and assist them to meet their general biosecurity obligations. The role will support the implementation of the Feral Pig and Pest Program.

Within this role you will:

  • Coordinate the identification of strategic implementation priorities for the North Coast Regional Strategic Pest Animal Management Plan (i.e. which species populations actions and partnerships)
  • Support the North Coast LLS Invasive Species Team to deliver strategic local on-ground pest management projects identified for the Feral Pig and Pest Program
  • Manage invasive species FP&PP budget and reporting
  • Contribute to Ministerial requests related to invasive species management
  • Manage and assist with monitoring and surveillance projects within the North Coast region
  • Coordinate effective feral animal control over a range of land tenures
  • Engage with stakeholders across private and public land
  • Manage feral animal control contractors including invoicing and reporting

About You

To be successful in the role you will need to have:

  • Working experience in invasive pest management and an understanding of invasive pests within the North Coast region as outlined in the North Coast Regional Strategic Pest Animal Management Plan.
  • Sound knowledge and experience with strategic planning
  • Familiarity with North Coast LLS farming industries and systems and experience in engaging with farmers.
  • A degree in agriculture rural science or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage and collaborate with people in government industry and the community and build partnerships.
  • An ability to think strategically and understand risk as it applies to pests and farming in the North Coast region.
  • Demonstrated project management experience including monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience working in a team environment to deliver results.
