When will I work
The primary work hours for this position are 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday with overtime as needed.
Where is this opportunity located
This position is located in Brookings South Dakota in our Lab Service department.
What will the work look like for me
- Support lab technicians and engineers by:
- Performing preventative maintenance on thermal chambers weathering chambers and other laboratory equipment.
- Organizing the tools and maintaining a clean laboratory using Lean 5S principles as a guide.
- Organizing the calibration schedule for tools and keeping them up to date by sending them out to third parties for calibration.
- Perform laboratory testing and support as needed which may include any of the following:
- Electrical Setup and operation of Daktronics modules power supplies and controllers and measurement of their electrical characteristics via multimeters oscilloscopes or other advanced equipment.
- Environmental Testing - Temperature-humidity testing chambers UV Weathering chambers and water spray testers.
- Dimensional Measurement Measure components using various instruments such as height gages calipers advanced optical microscopes coordinate measurement machines and many others.
- Mechanical Testing - Dimensional torque tensile testing compression adhesion fatigue etc.
- Remote Monitoring Equipment- Support and data collection from remote monitoring equipment installed within the lab as well as some customer displays.
- Provide feedback and make continuous improvements to the work environment.
- Participate in planning activities including PI (Program Increment) Planning Tier meetings and Asana task planning activities.
Qualifications
To be considered for the Electronics Lab Technical Assistant position we require the following:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of hand and power tools for maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Good oral and written communication skills and good organizational skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships in a team-based environment.
- Ability to exhibit self-motivation and interest in taking on challenges with minimal supervision.
- Ability to meet all workplace safety requirements.
- Physical requirements include the ability to:
- Work in an environment with smells such as solder paint solvent chemical/cleaning or other general manufacturing odors.
- Frequently move materials weighing up to 35 lbs. and occasionally to frequently move materials weighing up to 45 lbs.
- Maintain steady hand/eye coordination to run tests.
- Possess the manual dexterity to handle very small parts.
- Fluent in English both written and verbal.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Daktronics does not sponsor renew or extend immigration visas for this position.
Preferred Experience:
- At least one (1) year of manufacturing experience.
- Previous Daktronics experience.
- Previous electronics manufacturing electronics repair or measurements experience
- Experience with MS office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint).
- Experience with or willingness to learn Asana Administration tasks and automation of workflows.
