Job Summary

Software engineers at GoodGuide are responsible for creating the data infrastructure that supports our rating system and business- and consumer-facing applications. They work to take feature requests and user stories from a range of different clients and translate them into a set of re-usable data management components. You can see an example of recent projects on our platform page.

Engineers each take substantial ownership over the features the develop from requirements gathering to design and implementation to production deployment using Amazon EC2 and capistrano. They also collaborate closely with engineers to brainstorm about design ideas and make sure that their systems work well together.

We look for the following requirements in software engineers:

B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Strong grasp of software design fundamentals
Examples of challenging software design projects and the ability to describe how they were accomplished
Experience building web applications using a framework like Ruby on Rails Django or Struts
We dont care about how many years of experience you have just about seeing examples of the great work youve done

Additionally the best candidates will have:

Working knowledge of HTML CSS and Javascript
Experience with natural language processing or search technologies
