Seton Education Partners is seeking a mission-driven nurturing and team-oriented Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and student care for Estrellita Childcare. Estrellita is a high-quality program offering full-day Pre-K3 and after-school care for students at Brillante Academy in Mission TX. The Teacher Assistant partners closely with lead teachers to create a safe joyful and engaging learning environment where every child is known loved and challenged to grow academically socially and emotionally. This individual plays a vital role in modeling positive behavior reinforcing classroom routines and ensuring every child receives the individualized attention they need to thrive. By supporting both students and teachers the Teacher Assistant helps advance Estrellitas mission of making affordable academically excellent enrichment-filled and virtues-based child care accessible to all.

About Brillante Academy

Brillante Academy was founded in 2023 as a two-way dual language school that empowers scholars and the community through an innovative approach combining personalized blended learning and co-teaching with a classically inspired approach to education. We focus on teaching the whole child instilling a deep sense of character through our core virtues (courage justice wisdom self-control and love) while setting a high bar for academic achievement and teaching a content-rich curriculum that has stood the test of time. All of this is done in service of preparing our scholars for excellence in high school college and beyond. The first Brillante Academy campus opened its doors in August 2023 and will serve over 460 students
from the Rio Grande Valley in the Mission area and surrounding communities in the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. Brillantes flagship campus will continue to grow one grade level a year until 8th grade. Over the next decade we plan to expand our network across the state of Texas to serve over 7000 students.

About the Estrellita Program

Estrellita launched in Fall 2024 to provide Brillante Academy families with access to free full-day Pre-K3 as well as affordable after-school care. Like Brillante Academy Estrellita is committed to educating the whole child - nurturing each students mind body and spirit within a safe enriching and virtues-based environment.

About the Estrellita Teacher Assistant Position

The Teacher Assistant is responsible for supporting the Lead Teacher cultivating a joyful learning environment where every child feels safe loved and inspired to achieve their limitless potential. After the school day the Teacher Assistant is responsible for leading the Pre-K3 after-school program. The current schedule for the Teacher Assistant position is 9:30 am - 6 pm. Teaching Assistants are vital members of our team and the role provides a valuable learning experience especially for those interested in becoming a lead teacher in the future. Your typical week would include a variety of tasks such as:

  • Delivering small group instruction to provide individualized support
  • Preparing and delivering whole group lessons as assigned and with support from the lead teacher
  • Assisting in customizing lesson plans and activities to meet the needs of individual students
  • Helping teachers with administrative duties that support instruction and student learning (including but not limited to attendance parent communication material management and distribution class newsletter data tracking student record keeping operating technology preparing lesson materials making copies etc.)
  • Participating in team meetings check-ins with the manager before and school duties and other school-wide meetings and events
  • Monitoring students during transition times throughout the school day including recess lunch etc.
  • Planning for and executing after-school lesson plans and enrichment opportunities
  • Accurately tracking attendance in after-school Pre-K3 program
  • Communicating with parents of students in after-school program including sharing pictures and updates regularly on the Remind App
  • Completing child-care self-paced annual trainings
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications and Desired Characteristics

  • Unwavering commitment to both Seton and Brillantes mission virtues and root beliefs.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience working in a childcare center after-school program or other childhood education setting
  • Pass Background Check for Child Care Licensing
