General Summary
The ICCS (Instrumentation & Controls and Control Systems) Intern in the summer of 2026 will help support construction and troubleshooting activities related to electronic instrumentation measurement and controls within GTI Energy facilities. Responsibilities will include wiring equipment testing assisting with programming tasks calibrating and maintaining instruments documenting procedures and test results and collaborating with engineers and technicians on system design and implementation. The intern will gain hands-on experience with industrial control systems instrumentation networks and safety protocols contributing directly to ongoing projects and facility operations.

Work Location
The position will be based at GTI Energy Headquarters in the Chicagoland area. We offer a hybrid/core work schedule in which employees work remotely on Mondays and Fridays and are on-site Tuesday through Thursday. Interns may be required to be on-site up to five days per week depending on lab work and project requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in constructing and documenting engineering prototype equipment.
- Participate in developing drawings and equipment lists.
- Research and identify components hardware software that match design specifications.
- Perform laboratory tests and collection of test data.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills Abilities and Other Characteristics
- Working knowledge of MS Office Visio Python and basic software tools.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere acting and communicating to get along with co-workers.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Education and Experience
- Students should be currently pursuing an electrical/software engineering degree
- Completion of at least one year of undergraduate degree.
Pay Transparency
The pay range for this position is $17 - $28 USD per hour. This pay range is GTI Energys good faith estimate and the actual pay may vary based on a number of factors including but not limited to GTI Energys business or organizational needs and an individuals relevant experience education qualifications certifications skills seniority geographic location and/or performance. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate monthly rate or annual salary only and do not include bonus. The range listed is just one component of GTI Energys total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses paid time off and region-specific benefits.
