Job Responsibilities
Work to instill Zero4Life as the fundamental driver to an injury free workplace.
Identify best practices and develop comprehensive site-specific Health and Safety policies
and procedures that drive a zero injury and zero preventable vehicle incident culture.
Identify best practices and develop and implement comprehensive site-specific Health and Safety policies.
Provide technical advice coaching and guidance on Health and Safety training programs to address regulatory requirements and site-specific operational and safety concerns.
Work with DOT FMCSA MSHA OSHA and other pertinent federal and state regulatory agencies to manage regulatory compliance.
Assist operations in conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis when incidents occur and ensure corrective actions are put in place to prevent recurrence.
Consult and guide Management with the systems to manage injured employees through the transitional return to work process.
Participate in Division Health & Safety Management Systems audits and assist in follow up actions.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Health & Safety or related field.
3 years experience in health and safety management operations management or other related position.
Safety certifications (CSP CIH CMSP CDS etc.) a plus.
Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies such as DOT OSHA and MSHA.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
Team oriented with ability to work independently as a self-starter.
Demonstrated leadership and decision-making ability through performance assessment and interview process is required.
Must excel as a communicator. Will need to communicate credibly with large groups of employees supervisors and managers across the business businesses and with Federal state and local authorities regarding accidents & compliance issues.
Working Conditions
Continuous exposure to extreme heat extreme cold extreme noise and working outdoors
Must wear protective equipment while at the location
Physical Requirements
Requires walking sitting lifting pushing pulling and climbing to a significant degree
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
Job involves sitting most of the time but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
Must be able to perform all job functions which include but may not be limited to pushing turning and/or pulling of controls
