I&E Facility Engineer

About the position
Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Engineer Mechanical to join the projects & engineering team. Reporting to the Facilities Engineer Mechanical Lead this role will be based in Chevrons office in Bengaluru.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
Key responsibilities
The Instrumentation and Electrical Facilities Engineer is a member of Chevrons ENGINE Facilities Designs Engineering team providing instrumentation controls and electrical designs support to Chevrons Refining Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) and Specialty Operations assets. This role is responsible for supporting the troubleshooting analysis and development of I&E engineering solutions for Chevrons complex process facilities. The I&E Designs Engineering team provides remote technical support for operations turnaround scope development and projects.
Provide instrumentation controls and electrical engineering support for process units within Chevrons complex process facilities. This will require collaboration with Operations Maintenance and Technical functions within Chevrons assets.
Support the management of change process for instrumentation controls and electrical design packages and associated changes.
Utilize Chevron and Industry Engineering Standards and Safety in Designs.
Support the design troubleshooting analysis and installation of distributed control systems instrumentation safety instrumented systems (SIS) analyzers electrical power distribution systems rotating equipment control and monitoring systems PLC control & instruments HART instruments field measurement instruments and other oil & gas process technology equipment.
Provide active remote support by working with Operations and other technical teams to scope instrumentation and electrical repairs and troubleshoot issues in process plants.
Support implementation of solutions through Routine Maintenance Turnaround execution and projects.
Provide guidance for technical inquiries issue technical recommendations provide equipment and system troubleshooting improve I&E Engineering tools and support the development and improvement of I&E Engineering work processes.
Provide engineering analysis consultation and project management for small I&E capital projects.
Leverage expertise and knowledge of instrument and electrical design codes and standards safety instrumented systems process control systems field instrument selection and sizing equipment procurement field construction and repair practices process safety information management of change work process as well as process control and monitoring.

To be considered for this role applicants should have:
Minimum of 3 years of site-based facility experience in a brownfield environment.
Minimum of 8 years of experience as an I&E Engineer directly supporting operations at a complex refinery LNG facility or similar petrochemical environment.
Bachelors degree in instrumentation or electrical engineering (B.E./.) from a recognized (AICTE) university.
Demonstrated Job Knowledge and Proficiency
Knowledge of field instrumentation and controls including sensors transmitters final control elements process control systems communication protocols and wiring practices.
Proven ability to: specify purchase support install and commission and troubleshoot field instrumentation and electrical components and systems. Design instrument loops including selection and sizing of flow meters control valves and other field instrumentation.
Interpret understand and develop drawings including P&IDs schematics and termination diagrams. Evaluate and select suppliers for specific instrumentation applications.
General knowledge of power generation MV/LV distribution systems and UPS and DC power systems. Understanding of electrical protection for feeders motors transformers and other equipment. Knowledge or experience with ASDs/VFDs. Complex Process Facility experience strongly preferred.
Communication
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Capable of effectively and proactively informing and engaging with customers and creating detailed engineering documents. Listen and properly regard input from all team members and stakeholders. Communicate technical ideas to a wide range of stakeholders and audiences. Facilitates meetings effectively.
Teamwork
Interface effectively with Operators Mechanics Vendors Contractors Management and other parties to meet business objectives. Foster cooperation and collaboration among individuals in a work group. Help teams resolve conflicts constructively. Work with customers to set priorities and execute work with minimal direct supervision. Collaboratively work with multiple Refinery organizations (Health Safety and Environment Engineering Operations and Maintenance) to gain support and alignment. Strong team player (i.e. capable of building strong productive and mutually beneficial working relationships with all stakeholders).
