About the Role:
As the Assistant Manager Environmental Compliance youll be the go-to leader for emission standards compliance (EPA CARB ECCC) as well as broader product safety and chemical compliance areas. This position combines technical expertise regulatory knowledge and leadership responsibilities to ensure compliance across operations while also driving proactive strategies to meet evolving environmental standards.
You will manage submissions coordinate with international partners guide customers and lead a dedicated compliance team-all while ensuring regulations are met and exceeded.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage EPA and CARB submissions for engines and parts; communicate status updates with global teams.
- Serve as a core member with EMA and collaborate with international compliance counterparts.
- Oversee compliance areas including chemical regulations product safety and related standards.
- Research track and share regulatory trends from federal and local governments with stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a global compliance framework for emissions regulations in collaboration with international teams.
- Educate and support internal staff OEMs and distributors on compliance requirements.
- Prepare and support EPAs in-use test requirements; audit customer production lines for compliance.
- Manage emissions labels certificates and regulatory documentation.
- Lead and mentor compliance team members: hiring performance management and training.
- Maintain an organized secure and safety-compliant work environment.
What Youll Bring:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3 5 years experience as a mechanical engineer (emission testing experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of emissions compliance standards testing procedures and chemical/materials compliance requirements.
- Hands-on understanding of gasoline and diesel engine mechanics design and diagnostics.
- Skilled in presenting technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Advanced problem-solving analytical and negotiation skills.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite; working knowledge of CAD and SAP.
- Ability to travel up to 25% (domestic and international sometimes with short notice).
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with hybrid flexibility.
- Regular exposure to engine testing labs (moderate to very loud noise vibration fumes and moving mechanical parts).
- Occasional exposure to warehouse environments and handling of chemicals.
- Requires use of safety equipment (eye and ear protection).
