St. Jude Regional Catholic School is seeking a full-time 1st grade teacher to join our team in the fall of 2025. The ideal candidate would be certified in elementary education and have a desire to teach in an inclusive and diverse Catholic school. The fourth-grade teacher would teach language arts phonics and early childhood reading skills math science social studies and religion The 1st grade teacher will help bridge students by preparing them to transition into 2nd grade- all while being an integral part of the lower school faculty team. Teachers are expected to plan and implement engaging lesson plans collaborate with faculty and keep open communication with parents.

The 1st grade teacher will collaborate with a full time aide and work closely to establish a positive learning environment for the first grade students.

Responsibilities:
â Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of SJRCS.
â Plan for instruction with logically sequenced objectives based on the curriculum standards of the Archdiocese of Washington.
â Collaborate with the lower school teachers and resource teacher to establish a consistent foundation for learning.
â Provide appropriate material and resources- for students of all learning levels to access and engage in learning.
â Review and adopt accommodations specified for students with CAPs or other learning plans. The teacher will collaborate with the resource teacher to ensure the success of resource students.
â Use varied assessment tools to perform frequent formative and summative assessments. The teacher will schedule supervise and proctor makeup tests and classwork.
â Maintain grades for homework classwork essays projects quizzes and tests. The teacher will post grades on the schools grading platform.
â Schedule supervise and proctor standardized testing three times per school year in accordance with ADW practices.
â Practice positive consistent discipline in the classroom. Establish procedures that optimize instructional time. Create and enforce rules that are clear and foster an atmosphere where all children can learn.
â Plan schedule supervise and attend field trips.
â Communicate with parents regarding academic behavioral social and safety concerns.
â Attend weekly faculty and team meetings.

Skills required:
â Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church.
â Knowledge of subjects taught instructional methods and strategies and curriculum differentiation.
â Knowledge of child development learning and behavior specific to elementary school grade levels. The teacher will have the ability to manage student behavior in the classroom setting.
â Skill in pacing and differentiating instruction. The teacher will have the ability to respond to individual learning needs.
â Skill in motivating and engaging students in the learning process. The teacher will have the ability to demonstrate gains in student performance that are in keeping with school goals.
â Skill in collaborating with peers to enhance the work environment and support instructional planning across the curriculum and across the four grade levels of SJRCS middle school.
â Ability to conference with parents upon request.
Minimum Qualifications:
â Bachelors degree in Education-BA or BS four-year degree required.
â At least 12 hours in education courses and a valid MSDE teaching certificate preferred; obligation to become certified by MSDE within three (3) years of date of hire required.
