Managing Director / GM Fabrication (Strong Business Acumen Req.) Description
Our client a leader in steel fabrication is seeking a Managing Director / General Manager to oversee all operations for their established and successful branch in Portland Maine. You will lead a team of 21 including 7 direct reports with responsibility for financial outcomes strategy leadership and communication across departments. This position is ideal for a metrics-driven leader with strong business acumen and experience in industrial fabrication or customized manufacturing. You will implement KPIs through a new ERP system and guide the companys continued success through thoughtful decision-making and cross-functional leadership.
Managing Director / GM Fabrication (Strong Business Acumen Req.) Responsibilities
Lead all business functions including operations sales purchasing and administration
Set long-term goals and align daily operations with strategic objectives
Analyze financials and use data to drive profitability and decision-making
Guide project delivery through regular coordination with Project Managers
Collaborate with the Plant Manager on scheduling and workflow
Build and maintain client relationships and support business development
Review and negotiate contracts ensuring favorable pricing terms and delivery
Implement and track KPIs through the ERP system to measure performance
Conduct performance reviews and guide employee development
Oversee procurement of raw materials and approve invoices
Review bids to ensure accuracy and profitability
Partner with accounting on monthly and year-end financial closings
Participate in cross-company leadership meetings with peer GMs and executives
Oversee facility improvements and capital equipment upgrades
Managing Director / GM Fabrication (Strong Business Acumen Req.) Qualifications
Experience in industrial fabrication or customized manufacturing is required
5 years of team management experience is required
Experience with long-term projects with significant upfront costs is required
Strong business acumen including assessing operational costs strategy & KPIs is required
Experience reviewing contracts and identifying business risks is required
Ability to work 100% on-site is required
