The Salvation Army Syracuse Area Services is hiring Community Based Therapists!
Part-Time opening with potential to convert to Full-time
Starting rate$28/hour with benefits even at part time status.
As a Community Based Therapist you will provide therapeutic services to children and youth (ages 021) under the Children & Family Treatment and Support Services Medicaid program helping them achieve emotional behavioral and mental health goals in the least restrictive environmentoften in their home or community. The goal of services is to increase accessibility to quality mental health services while preventing the progression of mental health needs through early identification and intervention.
We have 1 part-time opening (29 hrs/week) reporting to the Director of Behavioral Health Services with the potential to move to full-time (35 hrs/week) based on performance and agency needs. Flexible scheduling is available based on provider and family availability. This is a great opportunity for professionals working toward clinical licensure to gain hands-on experience with youth and families in a community mental health settingwith the support of a large well-established agency.
Starting pay: $28/hour plus monthly productivity incentives.

In the role of a Community Based Therapist for The Salvation Army you are responsible for the following:
- Complete mental health assessments for youth that may result in diagnosis.
- Create and update treatment plans with input from the youth and their family offering a range of treatment options.
- Provide counseling services (individual family or group) in-home or in the community.
- Exposure to evidence-based practices including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) Functional Family Therapy (FFT) and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) with potential for training and certification in a model.
- Respond to crisis situations as neededby phone in-person or follow-up.
- Work with other service providers to ensure coordinated care for each youth.
- Keep accurate records and documentation that meet Medicaid and agency requirements.
- Attend all required and optional trainings to stay current in the field.
- Practice with cultural sensitivity and a trauma-informed approach in all interactions.
- Meet expectations for timely documentation and monthly productivity goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned or developed as part of the role.
- Engage in weekly supervision. Supervision does meet the criteria for clinical supervision towards licensure for various mental health degree fields.

Requirements:
- Masters degree in a mental health field (e.g MFT MHC MSW Creative Arts Therapy)
- Applicants with a limited permit working towards licensure are welcome
- Candidates enrolled in a related graduate program may be considered
- Experience working with children through work internship volunteering or personal life is preferred.
- Must have a valid drivers license and access to a reliable private transportation that meets Salvation Army insurance requirements
