American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter- Long Term Substitute

Northern High School

Reports To: Building Principal Director of Student Services

Wage: $120/day for first 10 days $130/day on the 11^thday and thereafter

Duration:Beginning of December 2025 to end of Februraty 2026

Job Summary: Provide interpreter services to deaf or hard of hearing student(s) using American Sign Language.

Qualifications:

Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
A strong understanding of both the English Language and American Sign Language
Prior experience as an ASL Interpreter preferably in a classroom setting

Essential Job Functions:

Provide American Sign Language interpreter services
Consistent and reliable attendance
Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand walk sit use hands to finger handle or feel reach with hands and arms climb or balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl talk hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and ability to adjust/focus. Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work may be performed indoors and/or outdoors.

Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to compare analyze communicate both orally and in writing copy coordinate instruct compute synthesize evaluate use interpersonal skills compile and negotiate.
