Job Summary

Primary Responsibilities
Assist Archives staff in their duties to provide a variety of services to patrons promote and advocate for the archival collections and process and provide access to archival materials. Clerical duties may include: data entry filing photocopying sorting shredding replenish office supplies etc. General duties may include: pulling and re-shelving books and archival materials; shelf reading straightening and dusting of book collection; assisting with shifting of book and archival collections; washing gloves; keeping work and research areas clear and clean; assisting archive staff with classes & groups; observe security/safety procedures always. Specialized duties (training provided) may include: handling of archival materials in a variety of formats assisting with housing and or processing of archival materials use of equipment and specialized software such as scanners and microfilm readers. The Archives of the Big Bend is a department of the Bryan Wildenthal Memorial Library. Its mission is to collect preserve and make available for research primary materials documenting the diverse history and culture of the Big Bend and Trans-Pecos region of Texas and the corresponding border area of northern Mexico.
