This position performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging including a variety of procedures (invasive and non-invasive) ranging from a variety of biopsies routine OB/GYN vascular venous and arterial abdomen small body parts to intra-cavity and color Doppler. Technologist must have strong critical thinking interpersonal skills and ability to problem-solve while assuming responsibility for the safety mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the technologists care. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to deal effectively with and instruct patients who may be under physical/emotional stress; ability to comprehend and follow physicians verbal orders and follow imaging protocols. Technologist will also need to be able to work productively and effectively within a complex environment of inpatient emergency department and outpatient circumstances by being able to multitask with changing priorities. The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for obtaining information such as patient identity history reviewing medical records for appropriateness of the exam or procedure and documentation accuracy. Technologist must maintain a high standard of medical ethics be self-motivated to pursue lifelong learning to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field disease and new procedures as they evolve. Responsibilities(60%)* Produces quality images by selecting the appropriate technical factors equipment and transducer settings. Verifies patient orders and reviews appropriateness for exam obtains patient history explains standard procedures and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to ensure the needs of individual patients are met. Determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes while using independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
(20%)* The Technologist is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment performing and communicating findings of diagnostic examinations responsible for daily operations of the department patient schedule equipment maintenance the report of equipment failures and quality assessment (QA). Maintains a clean work environment and adequate supplies.
(20%)* Responsible for appropriate sterilization techniques along with documentation accuracy of logs charts forms and records in paper and electronic formats. Complies with all The Joint Commission federal state and local regulatory laws standards and protocols.
