DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Executive Director Facilities Management the Director Energy Environment & Climate Change is accountable and responsible for leading the energy environment and climate change initiatives within Island Healths Operations and Support group. This includes energy efficiency greenhouse-gas (GHG) reduction healthy built environment waste reduction and climate change adaptation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Masters degree or equivalent level of education and experience in engineering business resource management planning or environmental studies is required with ten (10) years experience leading and managing in an energy environmental or climate change addition one or more of the following designations:
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Registered member of the Canadian Institute of Planners
- Certified Environmental Professional
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
- LEED Accredited Professional
- Lean Six Sigma Certification
- Other similar industry accepted certification or accreditation.
Skills And Abilities
- Formal training in people leadership and management as well as project management
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to develop and communicate a business case
- Proven skills in and ongoing demonstration of continuous improvement principles
- Proven track record of innovative and strategic decision-making
- Proven ability to drive organizational change through influence and stakeholder engagement
- High level of technical knowledge in energy efficiency the environment and/or climate change
- Familiarity with building systems (HVAC boilers building automation lighting envelope)
- Ability to manage budgets and proven experience in financial analysis
- Proficiency with computer applications including MS Word Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and oral communication presentation and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for energy the environment and/or climate change.
Additional Desired:
- Experience managing people and projects in a hospital setting
- Experience designing commissioning and optimizing building systems in healthcare and knowledge of the special design and operating requirements for hospitals in Canada.
