Guidance Counselor

DEFINITION
The School Guidance Counselor shall be that employee member of the school staff designated by
the Superintendent of Schools to have the general responsibility for counseling grade 9-12. The
District is currently accepting applications for someone to cover a maternity leave.

PREREQUISITE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum: Masters degree in Guidance from an accredited institution
• Minimum: Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification for the position of Guidance Counselor 5-12.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide direct academic social and personal supportive services to students individually in classrooms and in large groups.
• Assist students set academic and personal goals.
• Provide responsive services as needed to address academic social and emotional concerns.
• Act as 504 Team Leader for eligible students on caseload.
• Monitor students who are academically at risk.
• Work collaboratively with staff members to implement curriculum and help build school culture across the school.
• Work with administration to uphold and support all school policies and procedures.
• Assist in special projects as assigned by the Principal and Guidance Department Chair.
• Attend team based meetings to collaborate with teachers to support students academically and socially.
• Collaborate with outside and partnering agencies.
• Complete classroom observations and attend IEP meetings as necessary.
• Monitor attendance for all students on assigned caseload.
• Communicate with parents regarding academic progress and attendance monitoring.
• Complete referrals for student services.
• Complete 51(a) reports when appropriate
• Attend teacher conferences and other night events as assigned by the department chair/principal.
• Other responsibilities as assigned in helping to maintain a safe and orderly school environment.
• Serve as an advocate for students by utilizing skills that respect issues of cultural and ethnic diversity and equity for every student and family.
• Attend district professional development and meetings.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Principal andGuidance Department Chair.

Salary:

Salary for this position will be based on the Everett Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. SY 25-26 - Pay Range - $63280-$121994.
