Reporting to the Supervisor Operations - Water this position performs all aspects of the day to day work activities of the Water Operations. With the support of the Senior Water Operator this position is responsible to operate maintain and troubleshoot the municipal Water Distribution and Supply System associated Wells Reservoirs Booster Stations and water transmission mains. Key accountabilities are to perform work functions and operations while ensuring compliance with Ministry regulations governing Water Distribution and Supply.
How you contribute to our organization:
- Perform all aspects of work related to the servicing operation and maintenance of all well operations water distribution systems and water works under the direction of the Operator In Charge (OIC).
- Conduct required testing of drinking water and lab tasks necessary to monitor and maintain water quality.
- Perform regular maintenance on the distribution systems in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure a safe and adequate water supply.
- Reporting any incidents of non-compliance (such as adverse water) required under O. Reg. 170/03 and O. Reg. 169/03 as amended to the OIC.
- Perform stand-by duties on a rotational basis.
What you bring to the team:
- Grade 12 or equivalent required to obtain OIT Class 1 2 or 3 licences.
- Four (4) year post secondary diploma/degree program in an environmental engineering or applied science field preferred.
- OIT Class 1 2 or 3 Water Distribution and Supply Certification as per 128/04 s 22
- 1 year experience in water operations preferred
- DZ licence is required; however the Town may hire qualified individuals without a DZ licence under the agreement that the new employee shall obtain their DZ licence within 1 year from their hire date
- Intermediate computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook Excel Word Teams and OneDrive) Cityworks computerized maintenance management system.
Salary: $25.20 $31.51 (OIT)
$28.34 $35.42 (Class 1)
$33.18 $41.47 (Class 2)
$36.81 $46.01 (Class 3)
plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension plan
Hours: 40 hours per week 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m. Monday Friday plus standby duties on a rotational basis
Location: McKelvey Reservoir 3377 Sideroad 10 Beeton
