Job Summary

The Manager Membership will play an integral role on the Membership and Executive Office teams by serving as a key relationship manager for APIs existing and prospective SST members communicating APIs value reach and influences across channels and mediums and expanding bandwidth for key cross-organizational projects and initiatives. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional value to members by supporting them in APIs programs policy initiatives and advocacy efforts while also ensuring the accuracy and strategic use of membership data to inform decision-making. The candidate should be entrepreneurial a self-starter who thrives in team environments and a problem-solver who takes should also be comfortable supporting the execution of executive-level events managing competing priorities and possess a strong attention to detail.

The Membership team works across API regularly interfacing with Policy Economics and Regulatory Affairs Global Industry Services Government Affairs and Public Affairs to drive value for our members and increase collaboration across the organization. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a willingness to represent the oil and natural industry interest in public policy advocacy campaigns and other member-facing projects and a keen ability to contribute to organizational-wide goals through project ownership and relationship-building.

API and its nearly 600 members represent all segments of Americas oil and natural gas industry which supports more than 11 million U.S. jobs and is backed by a growing grassroots movement of millions of Americans.

Responsibilities:

Member Engagement & Management

  • Lead and execute targeted recruitment onboarding and engagement strategies for APIs almost 600 corporate members.
  • Support API membership initiatives and processes including operational improvements contracts life-cycle communications and onboarding and retention campaigns.
  • Oversee accuracy and integrity of APIs membership database to maintain membership records track engagement and generate actionable data-driven insights including annual member engagement dashboards.
  • Support strategies and initiatives that connect members with opportunities to engage with relevant API programs advocacy campaigns and policy initiatives.

Research Strategy and Communications

  • Effectively communicate APIs value proposition to current and prospective members tailoring messaging for executives technical staff and other stakeholders while ensuring alignment with the organizations advocacy and policy priorities. This includes the President and CEOs routine and ad hoc communications to members.
  • Analyze membership engagement metrics to identify trends gaps and opportunities for value enhancement.
  • Develop executive-level briefing materials reports and correspondence that synthesize industry developments and member perspectives.
  • Create and/or assist with development and modification of membership-related presentation materials internal reporting processes and informational materials.
  • Support the management of APIs member communications strategy including executive communications annual reports and other member lifecycle communication campaigns.
  • Track and analyze industry news trends and policy developments relevant to the U.S. oil and gas industry to inform membership outreach strategies.

Cross-Organizational Support

  • Work collaboratively across API to drive an enterprise-wide membership approach and respond to member inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Provide support to the planning preparation and execution of executive-level events including API Board and Executive Committee meetings Annual Meeting and other strategic gatherings.
  • Serve as primary relationship manager for API Chapters.
  • Provide operational and planning support for internal and external cross-organizational activities such as APIs State of American Energy event educational webinars for members and industry professionals and external events and conferences as needed.
  • Represent API at industry events tradeshows and networking functions to promote API membership.

Qualifications

  • Requires 5-7 years of experience in a similar role and subject matter expertise.
  • Bachelors degree in relevant area or other related field equivalent work experience.
  • Intellectually curious entrepreneurial creative and enthusiastic team player.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks; meet deadlines; work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision; and handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Willingness to build and cultivate relationships and to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to solve problems logically and quickly using good judgement or escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Ability to research aggregate and synthesize information accurately from a variety of sources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including a strong understanding of differentiated messages for audiences.
  • Past experience working with a CRM (e.g. HubSpot Salesforce Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word Excel PowerPoint Teams).
  • Interest in the U.S. natural gas and oil industry and/or the operations of trade associations a plus.
  • Prior experience with member services client relations or business development a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer
  • Move about the office to access office machinery meeting rooms etc.
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines
  • Transport items and equipment up to 25 lbs. on occasion

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25%
