  • DESCRIPTION:

    The Department of Regional Schools & Instructional Programs is seeking an experienced Drama Teacher to work with high school students at the Long Island High School for the Arts. The candidate must be able to teach both first and second year-level students. Responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:
    • Developing and delivering lesson plans assignments assessments and instructional materials using effective teaching methods
    • Designing and implementing an arts-integrated curriculum aligned with New York State Arts and Career Technical Educational Standards
    • Fostering a school culture of high academic and artistic achievement by creating a supportive and engaging learning environment including set design and construction for LIHSA productions
    • Collecting analyzing and reporting student data (both quantitative and qualitative) to inform instruction and refine lesson plans

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • New York State Education Department (NYSED) Certification: Drama 7-12 or
    • NYSED Certification: Drama 7-12 Transitional A
    • Candidates with NYSED Certification in Theatre Arts are encouraged to apply
    • Experience in supporting students in a Career Technical Educational setting
    • Experience working with industry professionals to fulfill Work- Based Learning requirements
    • Experience as a professional artist

    SALARY: As per labor contract
