We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Specialist / Staff Specialist in Paediatric Intensive Care to join a high-acuity service that is critical to the health of children across regional Queensland. This is a full-time 12-month appointment with potential for secondment to a tertiary paediatric ICU for those seeking further sub-specialty experience.
The Role
As part of a dedicated PICU team you will:
- Provide specialist care for critically ill infants and children in a 5-bed PICU/PHDU with surge capacity for up to six ventilated patients
- Manage a diverse complex casemix including medical surgical trauma and oncology cases
- Participate in retrievals from a wide regional network covering Cairns Mackay Mount Isa and surrounding regions
- Supervise and mentor junior doctors and trainees fostering a strong culture of learning
- Engage in quality improvement research and service development initiatives

About You
- Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) or equivalent
- Specialist registration (or eligibility) with AHPRA
- Demonstrated experience in paediatric intensive care medicine
- Commitment to teaching clinical governance and continuous improvement
